February 2018 – Best slices in “Seattle”?
This week we were featured in The Stranger along with a few other solid pizza shops for having some of the best slices in Seattle. While Seattle doesn’t have the multitude slice shops of some other cities, we hold our own pretty nicely. We’ve got slices all day Friday–Sunday and from 4pm-close the rest of the week. You can read the whole article here.

How we take care of our pizza-making bodies.
Pizza-making, like many jobs, can be hard on bodies. So a few of us like to go to our pal Jen Barth for massage. Jen is all about treatment- fixing the aches and pains that come with the hard work that we all do. We’ve been going to her and sending people to her for years. She is a local parent and donates often to local schools and teachers. She is truly masterful and getting to the root of that nagging pain or injury you’ve been ignoring. She is located down the street in Burien and is often booked, but it’s worth signing up for an appt as far in advance as necessary to know you’ve got some self-care on the books. You can find her here.
Beers on draft right now.
Classic Light Lager from Aslan Brewing
Lucille IPA from Georgetown Brewing
Winter Ale from SeaPine
Grand Cru from Odin Brewing
Black Beer from Holy Mountain
Hard Cider from Brownrigg (GF)
Reheat your pizza right!
Don’t every put your pizza in a microwave. Do your self a favor and invest in a pizza stone. Keep it in the over on the middle rack. It reheats pizza best, while also helping your over keep a more consistent heat any time you use it. Here’s one we like:
It’s not too late to book your holiday parties!

Late Night Happy Hour!
We’ve added happy hour specials from 10pm-midnight on Fridays and Saturdays! Same as the early Happy Hour- discounts on pizzas, salads, beer, wine and now, $1 off house cocktails! Check out our menu for details.
We’ve got a few new cocktails to add to the list of possible things to drink with pizza. First up is The Heiress– made with Bulleit Rye, apple cider and Aperol; and also perfect for any upcoming cool weather is the Dark and Stormy with Kraken Rum, fresh ginger, ginger beer and lime. Both of these would pair perfectly with our seasonal Butternut Pizza, and a quinoa salad, but would also taste great after work while waiting for carry out.
What we’re doing when it’s freezing outside.
It’s getting cold. And until it’s time for the winter escape to Mexico, we like to find a nice toasty yoga studio to hang out in. And while we still mourn the loss of White Center’s yoga studio, Center Studio, there’s still the great option of Spira Yoga up in the Admiral Junction. The teachers are great, and the room is heated to a balmy 90 depress, which, in this weather, feels warm but not too hot. Highly recommended!

Butternut Squash Pizza is back!
Returning for the 8th year in a row is crowd-favorite: the Butternut Squash Seasonal Special! This pizza has always been a customer favorite, and it’s not surprising why- we place super thin slices of butternut squash over an already delicious cheese pizza, and add goat cheese and arugula to the top once it comes out of the oven. The tangy red sauce and arugula on top of this pie are what really makes it stand out- keeping a heavier fall flavor like winter squash a little lighter than it can often be at this time of the year. Better than Pumpkin Spice ANYTHING, it will be around until the end of the year.

Three ways to reheat your pizza at home
When we were first testing the recipes that became the pizzas you love at Proletariat, we wanted to be sure they tasted good cold, since that’s often how they’re eaten as leftovers. But what if you want to reheat your pizza and get the crust crisped up like it was freshly baked? Read on.
- Do not ever use a microwave. They are the death of pizza. If this is your only option, you’re better off eating the pizza or room temp.
- Consider getting a pizza stone. Pizza stones hold heat evenly and consistently, and they are nearly the same as the stones in our deck oven at the shop. Keep the stone in the oven at all times, and your oven will hold heat at a more stable rate. To cook or reheat pizza, preheat the oven with the stone inside for as long as possible, at least 20 minutes- longer is better. Then, place your slices directly on the pizza stone for a few minutes and they’ll crisp up wonderfully. Remove your slice once the cheese re-melts and enjoy!
- On the stove with a cast iron skillet (like this or this). Preheat your cast iron skillet over low heat for about five minutes. Place your slice in the pan, add a lid and give it a couple of minutes for the cheese to melt.
That’s it! Our three (really only two) favorite ways to reheat your slices without ruining our hard work! : )

This Tuesday, September 5th, we’ll be donating 20% of the night’s proceeds to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund to help Houston recover after Hurricane Harvey. It’s the day before school starts for those of you with children, so skip cooking and join us in doing what we can to help the city of Houston through the aftermath of this terrible storm.
For those of you that would like to help out even more, you can check out a few great Houston-based options here, or consider donating to Team Rubicon**, who teams military veterans with first responders to make a big impact on-the-groud in disaster areas around the world.
**we just heard about Team Rubicon while listening to one of our favorite podcasts, Pod Save America. Check that out too!

Frustrated with our website’s ordering? So are we!
We’ve been having some big difficulties with ordering from our website, as I’m sure you all have noticed. After many attempts at fixing the various problems (difficulty logging in, accessing Loyalty Points), we’ve decided to cut ties altogether with our online ordering company. We are working on figuring out a better way for you to order directly from ProletariatPizza.com, but until we get that all hammered out, here’s your best options for getting our pizza ordered easily and quickly:
Call us: 206.432.9765
Order online through these companies:
Eat24 and GrubHub -order take out or delivery (Proletariat drivers deliver)
UberEats -delivery only. They deliver our food to you with their own drivers (this can often be quicker than ordering delivery through us directly on busy nights.
Caviar -delivery only. New to West Seattle/White Center, they deliver our food to you with their drivers- similar to UberEats (but UberEats seems to be better at it.)
We know many of you have accumulated Loyalty Points through ordering through our own website, and we’ll make sure you’re still able to use those discounts on future orders with us. We’re so sorry for the frustration with this, and appreciate your having in there while we get it figure out.
Jubilee Days is this weekend!!
Jubilee Days is this weekend, and we’re pretty excited about it. This year, for the first time in many, many years, 16th Ave SW (our street) will be closed off to car traffic and the street fair will be held on our street! All weekend, there will be live music, and the fun activities for everyone to enjoy. See the website for more info! Hope to see you there!

New Delivery Options!
We’ve added two new ways for you to get Proletariat Pizza delivered to your doorstep. While we’ve been doing our own delivery with our employees driving for years, we’ve noticed times of the night that our own delivery times are just too long. So we’ve partnered with both UberEats and now Caviar to deliver our food to you in a quicker way. We’ll still be making all our delicious pizza and salads here in-house, and then sending them to you via an UberEats or Caviar driver. Let us knew what you think! We’re hoping it will lighten up the wait times for delivery, and we hope you notice the difference. And of course, you can still order online through our website for pickup or delivery as well.
New beers coming on draft!
We always have a great selection of beers and ciders on draft. Here’s what’s on now or coming soon:
Nice Day IPA from Silver City Brewing
Cold Beer Pilsner from Farmstrong
American Wheat Ale from Stoup Brewing
King Street Brown from Schooner EXACT
Sea Witch Stout from Seapine (switching soon to Double Rainbow Suspenders Double IPA – can’t wait!)
Blood Orange Cider from Elemental
DESSERT!
Have you tried our tiramisu? We make it in house, and it’s a little hard to keep up with demand, but this is the best ending to a long day or week. To be honest, it’s an even better START to the day.
We also offer pints of Full Tilt ice cream from our neighbors across the street. We’ve got Mexican Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Strawberry Basil and Vegan Mayan Chocolate.
Family Adventures
After twice-yearly family vacations to New York for the last couple years, our family has decided to take a year off to go and live in Brooklyn! Kids will be in school in Park Slope, and Mike and/or Stefanie will be flying back and forth to Seattle regularly. Proletariat Pizza will continue the same as it ever was, with our great staff and great manager, Sandra running the show.
We are so excited to take this extended trip to one of our favorite cities in the world. We look forward to seeing you all on our regular trips back to Seattle and we’ll be sure to leave periodic NY updates here as well.
